Bicycle tour through Vashlovani Protected Areas

The Agency of Protected Areas welcomes cycling enthusiasts to the One Day Tour of Tbilisi – Vashlovani on Sunday, November 24. Symbolic in nature, the tour is dedicated to Vasholvani Protected Areas, and to promote a healthy and active lifestyle. The distance from Tbilisi to the entrance of Vashlovani Protected Area is 120 km, while the total length of the tour is 70 – 80 km.  Special trucks and buses hired by the Agency will transport participants to the starting point and back again.

Tour Schedule:

November 22, Saturday

20:00 Assemble at the Sports Palace to load everyone’s bicycles onto trucks to be transported to Vashlovani Protected Areas. (The purpose of bringing bicycles on the previous day is to save time.)

November 23, Sunday

07:30 Meet at the Ministry of  Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia ( Adr. GuluaStr. #6.

08:00Head to Vashlovani Protected Areas.

11:00 Arrive at the entrance of the protected area and start the bicycle tour.

11:00 - 15:00 Cycling tour through Vashlovani National Park including Bugha Square and ending up at the second entrance of the park.

19:00 Return to Tbilisi by bus.

 

Note:

Participants must have their own bicycles and be capable of traveling long distances by bicycle. It is recommended to have special devices to frighten away dangerous shepherd dogs that live in special huts in the territory of park. The Agency of Protected Areas will provide information in advance about the cycling tour and warn shepherds to keep their dogs away from the tour route.

During the tour, meals will be offered at the cost of 12 GEL per person.
