Memorandum of Cooperation in the Field of Tourism

On June 25th 2013 at 15:00, the Chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas Mr. Rati Japaridze and the Director of the Biological Farming Association Elkana, Ms. Maka Jorjadze, signed a cooperation memorandum in the field of tourism at the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.

The aim of the agreement is to strengthen cooperation between the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and the Biological Farming Association Elkana through the development of eco and rural tourism infrastructure. Of particular interest is providing the necessary support for the improvement of   the quality of family guesthouses and touristic services in the vicinity of the Protected Areas, and promote them through the Elkana website www.ruraltourism.ge.

Association Elkana will conduct regular trainings regarding quality of service standards of the guest houses for the staff of the Agency of Protected Areas to introduce them to evaluation criteria and their practical use within the framework of the Memorandum. Consequently, awareness and the quality of service at guesthouses will increase and the owners of the facilities will have the possibility to generate additional sources of income. Another positive outcome of the Memorandum will be providing visitors of the Protected Areas with the opportunity to find affordable accommodations during their visits.
