The second meeting related to the updating and development of the Tbilisi National Park Management Plan was held in the Agency of Protected Areas.

The purpose of developing a management plan for protected areas is to define long-term goals and appropriate management approaches for protected areas. In the development of the management plan, the active involvement of the interested parties, who represent the local municipalities, non-governmental organizations, and the population living in the vicinity of the protected area, is especially important. At the initial stage of the development of the management plan, the interested parties present their proposals and recommendations for the development of the protected area. Their views and positions are reflected and considered in the document.

The working version of the management plan was presented at the meeting, and the long-term goals that should be included in the management plan and whose fulfillment will contribute to the sustainable management of the protected area were discussed, including protection-patrol of protected areas, monitoring of biodiversity, sustainable management of natural resources, development of

ecotourism, management of fires, pest diseases, environmental education, and public relations, strengthening of knowledge and skills of administration employees.

Development of the protected area management plan in accordance with the requirements of the Law of Georgia "On the System of Protected Areas" and approved by Order #110 of the Ministry of Environmental and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia dated March 12, 2014 - on the stages and procedures of the preparation of the methodology for the development of the structure, content and thematic parts of the management plan of the protected areas - the provision is proceeding accordingly.

The development of the Tbilisi National Park management plan is carried out with the financial support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Sweden, within the Governance Reform Fund (GRF) project.

The working meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the Agency of Protected Areas, the Tbilisi National Park Administration, as well as representatives of local municipalities, governmental and non-governmental organizations.
