The number of visitors to the four most popular protected areas of Georgia exceeded the record data for 2019 by 34%.

According to the data for the four months of 2023, 48,415 visitors visited the four most popular protected areas of Georgia, which is a 34% increase compared to the data for 2019.

In four months of 2023, more visitors visited Sataflia by 94%, Okatse Canyon by 44%, Martvili Canyon by 30%, and Prometheus Cave by 21% than in the same period of 2019.

The number of international visitors to the mentioned protected areas has also increased significantly, among which there are visitors from Poland, India, Latvia, Russia, and Kazakhstan.

The Agency of Protected Areas of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture implements an array of important projects in the direction of ecotourism development, which, on the one hand, contributes to the protection and preservation of our unique nature and biodiversity, on the other hand, makes a significant contribution to the ecotourism development in the country, which
will be translated into the improved socioeconomic conditions of the local population.
