The Chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas, Davit Iosebashvili, with the deputy chairperson, Tamar Khakhishvili, arrived in the United States of America

The Chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas, Davit Iosebashvili, with the deputy chairperson, Tamar Khakhishvili, arrived in the United States of America, on an official visit in the scope of which they met with representatives of the US National Parks Service and hold high-level Armenian-Georgian talks.
The purpose of the visit was to share the best experience, knowledge, and information of the two countries, to implement joint projects and activities aimed at improving the management of protected areas.
During the official visit, the Georgian delegation got acquainted with the best practice and experience of managing natural and cultural monuments of national parks of the United States, including visitor services, ecotourism activities, firefighting, and law enforcement.
The delegation visited the Grand Canyon National Park, which is considered the most beautiful canyon in the world and is one of the main tourist attractions.
During the visit to the USA, a letter of intent (LOI) was signed in Washington between the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Otar Shamugia, and the Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior, Debra Haaland. The two countries intend to deepen their collaboration and work jointly toward environmental protection, cultural and natural heritage protection, tourism, and ecotourism development.
The signing of the Letter of Intent between the US and Georgian parties was initiated by the International Technical Assistance Program (DOI‐ITAP) of the US Department of the Interior.
