Meeting with representatives from the Czech Development Agency
On September 20th, 2013, Rati Japaridze, Chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas, held a meeting with representatives of the Czech Development Agency (CzDA) - Ian Chernik and Sophia Kamushadze. With the support of the Czech Development Agency, numerous projects have been implemented in Georgia’s Protected Areas. Some of these projects include:“Renewable Energy for the Border Regions of Georgia”, “Improved Management for Imereti Caves Protected Areas”, “Management Plan for Tusheti Protected Landscape” and “Development of Speleo Therapy and Caves Monitoring System”.
During the meeting, the results of the experts’ visits to the Imereti Caves Protected Area – that were conducted within the scope of a CzDA project - were discussed. They also debated the possibility of developing Speleo therapy at Sataplia and Prometheus Caves, as well as reviewed future plans.
CzDA plans to support the Protected Areas of Georgian in the future via the implementation of different projects in the areas of agricultural and tourism, as well as provide social support to the local population in targeted regions of Georgia.
