On June 5th, 2012, the Agency of Protected Areas and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at launching a project titledSupporting Development of Protected Areas of Georgia. The Government of Germany is financing the project and other parties involved in the implementation process are the: Georgian National Tourism Administration, Georgian Tourism Association and Biodiversity Conversation and Research Center.
On September 5th-11th, 2013, in the framework of the project World Tourism Organization, expert Ricardo Sedola visited Tbilisi National Park. The purpose of the visit was to study the possibilities of developing cycling tourism and establishing several bike routes of varying difficulty throughout the park. Moreover, the project plans to post trail signs, information boards, set up picnic areas and develop other tourist infrastructure on selected routes.
Development of the mentioned tourist infrastructure will contribute towards making tourists more comfortable during their visits to the park, as well as increasing the number of park visitors in the future.
