"Renovated Iron Cross Trail Welcom Visitors in Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park"

The Agency of  Protected Areas of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, marked and embellished the 40-kilometer Iron Cross Trail, with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility's (GEF) Small Grants Programme: tourist infrastructure was installed, signs were placed, and two tourist shelters were built near the shepherds' apartments.

Iron Cross Mountain is one of the highest points in Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park and is a popular tourist destination. Visitors can now more easily walk the beautiful circular trail and enjoy the unique nature of Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park. It is worth noting that tourists can spend the night in a newly constructed shelter, where they will be hosted by local people and shepherds. The tourist will have the opportunity to learn about local traditions while traveling on the new route, in addition to seeing lovely landscapes.

Among the most sought-after destinations for visitors, Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park holds a prominent place. The Agency of Protected Areas is continually working to improve ecotourism services and make visits to the park more enjoyable. The Agency is constantly improving the ecotourism infrastructure and collaborates with numerous foreign donor organizations in this regard.
