In Tana and Tedzami Protected Areas, the tributaries of the Tana River were fished with 100,000 spawns of brook trout of the "Red List" species.
The representatives of the Agency of Protected Areas released 100,000 brook trout spawns of the eastern population (Mtkvari Basin) in the Tana and Tedzami Protected Areas to restore the population.
Representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, Agency of Wildlife, local municipality, and city hall participated in the fishing process.
Releasing hatched brook trout spawn and larvae into the wild is a method that supports the reproduction of a vulnerable species and maximizes the percentage of natural hatching with minimal human intervention.
The main activity of the Agency of Protected Areas of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, along with the creation of new protected areas, is the protection and restoration of biodiversity and its preservation in a pristine state, for which several important projects are being implemented.
It should be noted that Shida Kartli, Tana, and Tedzami Protected Areas were established in 2022 and represent the most important place for the conservation of biodiversity.
