Presentation of the new Twinning Program
Presentation of the new Twinning Program, Strengthening the Management of Protected Areas of Georgia was held at the Tbilisi Marriott hotel.
The meeting was opened by the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia, Miss. Khatuna Gogaladze, the chairman of the Agency of Protected Areas, Mr. Rati Japaridze, and representatives of the EU delegation. The project is aimed at the conservation of globally significant biodiversity of Georgia through the improvement of the management of protected areas and adoption of best international practices. The duration of the project is two years, with a budget of 1.1 million Euros.
The project will be implemented by Austria-Czech Consortium together with the Czech Ministry of Environmental Protection (Ministerstvo Životního Prostředí) and the Austrian Environmental Agency (Umweltbundesamt GmbH), in close collaboration with the Agency of Protected Areas under the leadership of the Austrian Federal Forests.
