Second Meeting of the Advisory Board at APA

On September 16, 2013 second advisory board meeting was held at the Agency of Protected Areas. Representatives from the non-public (NGO sector), international organizations, and university officials attended the meeting. During the meeting different issues related to problems currently existing in the Agency, as well as current activities and future plans were discussed.

The members of the advisory board focused on the following topics:

  • Leasing issues of the hotels belonging to the territorial administrations units;
  • Introduction and launch of so-called Receipt Equal Document (RED);
  • Reintroduction of gazelles and their transportation, adaptation, assimilation into the nature and safety issues;
  • Future plans of Kolkheti National Park Development Fund;
  • Impact of the drilling well owned by Kasara Ltd on the natural formations of Truso Valley, such as mineral water lake and travertine;
  • Desire of the owners of Hotel Rooms in Stepantsminda to build a ski run;
  • Pine trees damaged by the harmful pests and the fighting methods at Tusheti national Park.

 Next meeting of the board is scheduled to be in November during which, besides of discussing currently important issues, the tasks and objectives set in previous meetings will be reviewed.
